As university professors we are aware of the challenges faced by universities in making admissions decisions regarding students whose native language is not English. There are many formal assessments of English ability that have been in place for many years yet students who do well on these tests often struggle at universities. We feel the reason for this is that these tests do not measure language power they measure academic knowledge “about” the language.
Lynn University is currently engaged with us to develop a next generation language power assessment for prospective students. This first of its kind, real-world test will assess speaking and listening ability with audio from actual campus life.
Lynn University is excited about sharing the capabilities of their new assessment capability and welcomes inquiries.
